velasquez park

i felt sad this morning... i got scared of being rejected, of being hurt... i got scared of getting attached to someone and finding out that the other person doesn't feel the same way. i just recalled how hurting it was after breaking up with someone that you loved so much. it was such a sad experience. sometimes, that experience gets the better of me... sometimes i hesitate to give, sometimes i hold back in loving and caring. to sum it up, i'm scared of getting hurt again. but i don't want this to stop me from giving my best... i won't allow the past to overshadow the present. but then again i'm weak, i can't do this alone... i can't give something that i don't have, i can't give love unless i have it in me... and this love can only come from one source - God.

i prayed to God at velasquez park after having lunch today, and i'm greateful for the refuge that God offers. i felt lighter, better, and normal after praying.

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. —Psalm 56:3

i was also encouraged by this email i got from mitch today.

WHY GO TO CHURCH?

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of
the newspaper and complained
that it made no sense to go to church every
Sunday. "I've gone for 30
years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have
heard something like 3,000
sermons. But for the life of me, I cannot
remember a single one of them.
So, I think I am wasting my time and the
Pastors are wasting theirs by
giving sermons at all. "

This started a real controversy in the "Letters
to the Editor" column,
much to the delight of the editor. It went on
for weeks until someone
wrote this clincher: "I've been married for 30
years now. In that time my
wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the
life of me, I cannot recall
the entire menu for a single one of those
meals. But I do know this: They
all nourished me and gave me the strength I
needed to do my work. If my
wife had not given me these meals, I would be
physically dead today.
Likewise, if I had not gone to church for
nourishment, I would be
spiritually dead today!"

When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to
something! Faith sees the
invisible, Believes the incredible, and
Receives the impossible! Thank God
for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

Happy moments, praise God.
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

korean film and tripping

Last saturday, my sister Candy, loaded up our dvd player early in the morning(I was still on our bed) with a korean film titled “my sassy girl”. I asked her what the movie was about and where she got it from. She told me that it was a Korean love story film and that she borrowed it from her classmate. At first, It was like a boring movie to watch but I really have an itch for love stories so I gave it a go. Unfortunately, we have a house tripping scheduled that morning so I got up and decided to finish the movie later. Me and my family had a great time @ jubilation binan laguna. We checked on the model houses and all of it was superb. After the trip, we went home and I decided to load up the Korean movie again while I rested. It’s a funny film with a tearjerker ending. It was very light and humorous at the beginning and ended up with a dramatic and happy ending. I loved the scene where the leading man(let’s name him Angelo Miguel) met up with the leading lady’s(let’s name her Kirsten Cates) suitor(let’s name him Gabe). Angelo Miguel talked about the things that Gabe should consider when having a relationship with Kirsten Cates. So Angelo Miguel and Gabe talked while they waited for Kirsten Cates’ arrival. Angelo Miguel told Gabe 10 things about Kirsten Cates’ character(which kind of reminded me of someone from my past life). Some of the things that Angelo Miguel spoke of were: 1. if they go to a restaurant, Gabe should not order coke but coffee instead. 2. if Kirsten Cates slaps him, he should act as if it hurts. I won’t enumerate all of the things Angelo Miguel said but basically the point was to show how he knew so much of Kirsten Cates. Angelo left after he spoke to Gabe. When Kirsten Cates arrived, Gabe told her about the things Angelo Miguel said to him. While Gabe was enumerating the things he and Angelo Miguel spoke of, Kirsten Cates can’t help but hold her tears from falling and realizes how much Angelo Miguel cared for her.

Hmmm.. this scene made me think of the 10 things a guy should consider before having a relationship with ***. I’ll enumerate it here for old time’s sake.

1. when you go to a restaurant, order her favorite drink-ICE TEA =)
2. don’t ask her too much about her ex’es, you’ll just end up quarrelling
3. she prefers restaurants having home cooked dishes rather than fast food chains
4. don’t force her to swim, she doesn’t know how to, she prefers walking along seashores =)
5. she doesn’t really like kittens, though her friends call her kuting(kitten)
6. when you have quarrels, don’t shout at her, she’ll only shout louder =)
7. you can’t force her to brush her teeth at night if she doesn’t want to =)
8. don’t forget to go to the babies section whenever you go to the mall, she likes looking at baby dresses and accessories
9. don’t forget to buy a pizza when you send her home, her mom loves it
10. she loves perfume and shopping at watsons, oh and don't forget to buy alcohol(what for? just ask her if you want to know) hehehe.

I guess that's what makes it hard for someone to break up with their other half. It’s the things that you learn to put up with or accept with each other. You loose so much of the things you’ve invested-time, emotion, and memories. Overall, I loved the movie because it was a tearjerker and one that had a happy ending =)
